SHAQEEM WINS PERANGSANG-J WORLD CUP

Mohd Shaqeem Eiman Shahyar, 13 years old, from Batang Kali Secondary School emerged champion in the "Perangsang - J World Challenge Trophy" defeating Wong Zheng Wei, 13 years old, from Damansara Utama Secondary School at the MBPJ Hall, Bandar Utama, Selangor.
The presentation of flour mixer ceremony was officiated by Mustaffa Kamil Ayub, Board Member of Perangsang Selangor and witnessed by Mohamed Azmin Ali, Member of Parliament for Gombak as well as Mohd Fauzi Mohd Ghazali, Perangsang Selangor’s CSR Senior Manager.

In the 4-set match, Zheng Wei gave Mohd Shaqeem a tough time when he lost narrowly by 8-11 and 9-11 in the first two sets of the game before claiming victory in the 3rd set with a 11-7 score line. However, Mohd Shaqeem with his aggressive style controlled the game by hitting powerful smashes and neat net play to win 11-8 in the 4th set and secured the championship with a cash prize of RM200, trophy and APACS sports equipment.
Mohd Shaqeem said, "I am very happy and satisfied to be able to win the inaugural Perangsang-J World Cup. I felt pressured in the early part of the game as Wei Zheng was very skillful and aggressive. I managed to adapt to his game and win in the 4th set".
"Congratulations to Mohd Shaqeem, he was a better player than me today. Despite playing with strokes and smashes, Shaqeem managed to dominate the game and force me to concede many errors "said Zheng Wei.

"The tournament was aimed at selecting young talented players to be trained under "J-World Badminton Club" and represent "Perangsang Selangor Elite Badminton Team 2015". Selected players will undergo intensive trainings under the guidance of professional coaches and participate in national as well as international badminton tournaments".
Selangor Sports Stimulus (SSS)
SSS was launched in March 2014 as part of Perangsang Selangor's Corporate Social Responsibility programmes. To date, Perangsang Selangor has spent almost RM1 million for the implementation of SSS, which include Talent Sports Camp and Perangsang Selangor Elite Team in 5 sports, namely bowling RM401,733, badminton RM169,740, cycling RM160,510, swimming RM145,610 and football of RM117,630.
SSS athletes have triumphed in numerous championships, such as Champion in the 100PLUS National Junior Badminton Championships and AR Golden Eagle Badminton Championships, Gold Medal in swimming at the 17th Malaysia Games and Singapore National Age Group Swimming Championship, silver and bronze medals in the cycling event at the 17th Malaysia Games, Men's Individual Runner-Up under 14 years in the 8th Singapore Sports School International Opulent Bowling Championships, Runner-up in the Creterium Kelantan Cycling Championships and Titiwangsa King of the Hill Cycling Championships.
