CSR Perangsang Selangor Recognized Internationally

June 19, 2015 : Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad (Perangsang Selangor) has gained international recognition by winning Asia’s Top Social Empowerment Award twice at the Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Award 2015 in conjunction with the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) International Summit 2015 held in Macau. 300 corporate firms from 32 countries in Asia participated under various categories and Perangsang Selangor was among the 22 organisations awarded as the winner of Asia Social Empowerment Award.
Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Awards recognises corporations that championed CSR efforts in enhancing the social welfare of the local community. Perangsang Selangor through its CSR programme has contributed RM1.2 million for organising the Selangor Entrepreneurship Development Programme (SEDP). In addition, RM3.5 million was spent to implement the Selangor Sports Stimulus programme focusing on sports development such as bowling, cycling, badminton, squash, football and swimming as well as the Selangor Community Responsibility Stimulus programme for religious programmes, donation and contribution, event management and strategic cooperation programmes with non-governmental organizations (NGOs).
Asia Responsible Entrepreneurship Award was divided into six categories namely Social Empowerment, Investment in People, Health Promotion, Green Leadership, SME CSR and Responsible Business Leadership. The evaluation criteria include the efforts taken to assist those in need of capital to start a business. Single mother Nor Faezah Mohd Yatim is among those who had benefited from the SEDP scheme aimed at promoting entrepreneurship development. With the assistance of portable spa equipment by Perangsang Selangor, Faezah managed to earn RM2,000 monthly to cover her five children’s school expenses aged between 5-18 years old.
In 2014, Perangsang Selangor has provided assistance to 350 youths, graduates, unemployed, single mothers, pensioners and the disabled worth RM2.2 million. Previously known as the Selangor Graduates Stimulus Programme (SGSP), the high in demand courses offered are Livestocks, Fast Printing, Fast Foods (Cendol and Laksa), Motorcycle Maintenance, Building Contractor, Sewing, Cake Baking, Mutawif and Early Childhood Education.
