PETALING JAYA, 5 November 2020 – Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad (“KPS”) recently contributed medical supplies in form of personal protective equipments (“PPE”) to Klinik Kesihatan Kelana Jaya (“KKKJ”) in support of the Ministry of Health’s effort to combat COVID-19 infections. The handover of the essential supplies took place in Kelana Jaya, Selangor, in the presence of KKKJ representatives and KPS officials.

The PPE includes 20,000 pairs of disposable latex gloves, 5,000 surgical masks, 200 face shields, 245 litres of hand sanitisers, and 188 sets of PPE suits, along with 20 stainless steel Q-up stands, 20 plastic chairs and three thermal scanners to improve the clinic’s facility. In total, KPS has contributed RM44,550 worth of medical supplies to the health clinic as part of its sustainability initiative since the announcement of nationwide Movement Control Order by the government in March 2020.

The Family Medicine Specialist and Head of Clinic for KKKJ, Dr Nik Mazlina Mohammad said the contribution was timely as the rise in number of COVID-19 cases in Selangor has rendered a higher demand for PPE usage. This is especially true for those who work in the triage area, for the staffs involved in respiratory emergency cases, as well as those in the Fever Clinic. All ill clients are suspected Covid-19 positive unless proven otherwise.

“The contribution is greatly appreciated by all of us at KKKJ as it would help protect and keep our personnel safe from the infection. We are grateful to KPS for this contribution to our frontliners as this will help boost their morale in discharging their duties in a high-risk environment," she added after receiving the items on behalf of KKKJ at the clinic here.

At the moment, KKKJ is one of the public health clinics in that serve the Petaling district in screening for COVID-19 cases. The staff are also involved in screening returning travellers and those quarantined at the Quarantine Centers all around Petaling. Patients who are tested positive for the virus will be subsequently referred to Hospital Sungai Buloh.

Also present at the handover ceremony were KKKJ Medical Officers Dr M Kalaivani and Dr Elizawaty Othman. KPS was represented by its Associate Director of Investor Relations and Strategic Communication, Mohd Fauzi Mohd Ghazali, who delivered the items to KKKJ.

"This is a joint responsibility between KPS and the members of the communities. It is hoped that our contribution will help address the shortage of PPEs, as these are essential disposable items that are used daily for screening the infection," he said.

KPS through its sustainability initiatives has allocated funds worth RM2 million to address the Economic, Environment and Social impacts of its stakeholders, especially to the members of communities in which KPS operates its business. The initiatives for 2020 comprises that from four main pillars namely Education Development, Entrepreneurship Development, Community Development and Environment, Safety and Health.
