SHAH ALAM, Aug 13 (Bernama) -- Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad (Perangsang Selangor) has donated 100 sacrificial cows worth about RM500,000 to the state government in conjunction with Aidiladha this year.

Its public relations, media and corporate social responsibility associate director, Mohd Fauzi Mohd Ghazali, said of the total, seven cows were handed back to the company for distribution.

“Of the seven, we gave three to deserving associations and surau, while the remaining four, plus one donated by our staff, were slaughtered in today’s programme.

“About 200 people comprising mualaf (Muslim converts) and asnaf (tithe recipients) from Shah Alam and its surrounding districts are expected to receive the meat from the sacrificed cows,” he said during at the Perangsang Selangor’s Korban programme here today.

At the event, Perangsang Selangor also distributed tithe (zakat) totalling RM40,000 to 38 asnaf mualaf families from Pertubuhan Mualaf Progress, Bukit Beruntung, Rawang.

Mohd Fauzi said approximately 140 people including 80 asnaf mualaf had come together for the programme.

“This exposure of performing the sacrificial ritual (on Aidiladha) is hoped to foster a better understanding of Islam among the new converts in their way to becoming better Muslims,” he said.

He also expressed hope that the distribution of the sacrificial meat and zakat money would help those in need to celebrate Aidiladha, and at the same time, alleviate their financial burden.
