Raja Muda Of Selangor Cup Football Championship: Search For Future Star Begins

SHAH ALAM, 22 October 2018: Sponsored by Kumpulan Perangsang Selangor Berhad (Perangsang Selangor), the 31st edition of Raja Muda Selangor Cup Football Championship was staged today at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Seksyen 24 to uncover new under-12 football future talents in the state of Selangor.
The Chairman of the Championship, Dato' Emran Kadir said, "The Raja Muda Cup Championship is the brainchild of His Royal Highness Sultan of Selangor. The main goal of the tournament is to scout for young talents from the grassroots level and groom them to attain higher level of skills in football. "
"The players who have been identified would have the potential to be recruited by the sports school in Selangor to undergo proper training and guidance accordingly", added Dato' Emran.

The football tourney maintains a total of 576 players from 32 teams, of which 20 primary schools represents Petaling Perdana District Education Office, and 12 of the schools from Petaling Utama District Education Office. The 32 teams are divided into 8 groups through balloting.
Then, the matches will take place on a league format where the top two teams from each group will qualify for the second round for the quarter-finals, the semi-finals and the final. The final match will be held on 15 November 2018.
Perangsang Selangor emerged as the main sponsor for the 6th consecutive year with sponsorship amount of RM100,000 for each tournament. The Raja Muda Cup is part of Perangsang Selangor’s corporate social responsibility initiative under the Selangor Sports Stimulus (RSS) programme, aimed at providing football development platform, where talented athletes are given the opportunity to be part of the junior and youth squad in Selangor.
The champion of Raja Muda Selangor Cup will receive a cash prize of RM4,000, a trophy, medal and certificate, while the runner-up RM3,000, and the third place and fourth places, RM2,000 and RM1,000, respectively, with medals and certificates. In addition, eight teams that qualify to the quarterfinals will receive a jersey sponsored by Selangor Perangsang.

In the opening match of the Charity Cup, Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Section 24 defeated last year’s champion, Sekolah Rendah Agama Integrasi (SRAI) Section 19 with a 1-0 score line. The only goal of the game was scored by Muhammad Muhaimin Bin Ahmad Khairi in the 32nd minute of the second half. The prize presentation ceremony was officiated by Dato' Ikmal Hijaz Hashim, a Board Member of Perangsang Selangor.
